What does vitamin K do in the body?

According to the health claims authorised in the European Union, vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of normal bones. The daily reference intake for adults is 75 µg.

K1 and K2 – what's the difference?

Vitamin K1 comes from green leafy vegetables. Vitamin K2 (menaquinone, often in the MK-7 form) is less common in food – mainly in fermented foods such as natto, and in hard cheeses and egg yolk. That's why K2 is usually the form chosen for food supplements.

Why together with vitamin D?

Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption of calcium and vitamin K to the maintenance of normal bones, which is why the two are often taken together. Both are fat-soluble, so take them with a meal that contains some fat. The range includes Vitamin K2 100 µg and Vitamin K2 500 µg as separate capsules, Premium D3 + K2 + Omega-3 + Vitamin A and Calcium and Magnesium + K2 + D3.

Please note

If you take blood-thinning medication (such as warfarin), consult your doctor before taking vitamin K.
