What does calcium do in the body?
According to the health claims authorised in the European Union, calcium is needed for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, and contributes to normal muscle function and to normal blood clotting. Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption and utilisation of calcium. The daily reference intake for adults is 800 mg.
The range
Calcium citrate 200 mg and Calcium citrate 600 mg are powders that let you measure out your own dose. Calcium and magnesium + K2 + D3 combines four nutrients in one capsule.
Food first
Calcium comes from dairy products, cheese, cabbages, almonds and sesame seeds. A food supplement helps when your diet falls short – for example, if you don't eat dairy products.
